Sale Ping is a Manifest V3 browser extension published by Wade Barrie, operating as WB Digital in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This page is the privacy policy for that extension. It describes the extension only.
What the extension does
Sale Ping lets you watch a product page and get a browser notification when the price drops. You can:
- save a product (name, image, URL, price, and site) from the toolbar popup or an on-page button
- file watched items into a Watchlist or a list you name
- check prices on a schedule, or with Check now
- open the product by clicking the notification
The extension does not require an account. There is no sign-in.
Data stays on your device
Watched items, lists, check intervals, and related settings are stored in your browser with chrome.storage.local (and brief session helpers for the current tab). That data stays in your browser profile on this computer. Sale Ping does not send watched products, prices, lists, or browsing data to WB Digital, or to any Sale Ping server. There is no Sale Ping account and no remote price database.
Removing the extension removes that stored data from that browser profile.
Background price checks
To see whether a watched product is on sale, the extension periodically downloads the public HTML of the product URL you saved (and when you press Check now). Those requests go to the merchant’s website, not to WB Digital. They are made without your cookies or signed-in session (credentials: 'omit'), so a member-only or logged-in price is not used. The downloaded HTML is parsed on your device to read a price; it is not uploaded to WB Digital.
If a check fails (network error, bot wall, or no readable price), the last good price is kept. Failed checks are not reported to WB Digital.
What is not collected
WB Digital does not receive, store, or sell any of the following from the extension:
- your name, email address, or other contact details
- account or sign-in credentials
- payment information
- browsing history, or a list of every page you open
- the products you watch, their prices, or your lists
- advertising identifiers, analytics events, or usage telemetry
Permissions, in plain language
Chrome (and Edge) show the extension’s permissions when you install it. They exist so Sale Ping can watch products and notify you:
- Storage. Saves your watchlists, prices, and settings in the browser on this device.
- Alarms. Wakes the extension on the check interval you pick (for example every 30 minutes).
- Notifications. Shows a browser notification when a watched price drops (only if your operating system allows Chrome or Edge to show notifications).
- Active tab. Reads the product page you are looking at so the popup and on-page button can save the current price from the rendered page.
- Access to websites (http and https). Lets the content button appear on product pages, and lets background checks download the public HTML of URLs you chose to watch. That access is not used to keep a record of every site you visit for WB Digital, and page contents are not sent to WB Digital.
The extension does not ask for your Google or Microsoft account, contacts, or files.
Other parties
WB Digital does not share extension data with anyone else. The extension does not send that data to us, so there is nothing from your watchlists for us to pass on.
When a background check runs, the merchant’s site receives a normal request for that product URL, the same way opening the page in a browser would from a networking point of view, without your login cookies. How that merchant handles their own logs is covered by their privacy policy, not this one.
If you install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, Google’s handling of your Chrome account and of the install is covered by Google’s privacy policy. Edge installs are covered by Microsoft’s privacy statement.
